About Us

About Us

Here at Texas Steer Boots, we specialize in creating high-quality, durable boots designed for hard work and outdoor adventure. Our company has a long, rich history spanning over 100 years in the boot-making business.

Our History

The Texas Steer boot company first opened its doors in 1917 in Fort Worth, Texas. Back then, we were a small, family-owned shop focused on handcrafting boots for the local ranching and farming communities. The demand for our boots grew quickly thanks to their reputation for comfort, durability, and customized fit.

Within a few years, Texas Steer boots were being worn by cowboys, field workers, and laborers across the Southwest. During the Great Depression, we managed to stay in business through innovative programs like our “Buy Now, Pay Later” installment plans that allowed cash-strapped customers to purchase needed footwear.

When World War II hit, Texas Steer dedicated its factory to producing boots for the U.S. military. After the war ended, we saw our consumer market expand nationwide as American workers in all industries realized the value of a well-made pair of boots. The postwar economic boom was good for our company, and we grew into one of the leading boot suppliers in the United States.

Over the decades, Texas Steer has embraced new technologies and production methods while staying true to our heritage of handcraftsmanship. In the 1960s, we began producing boots with innovative features like cushioned insoles, slip-resistant soles, and premium leathers. In the 1990s and 2000s, our boots were worn by soldiers serving in the Gulf War and the Iraq War thanks to their durability and protective qualities.

Today, while Texas Steer utilizes some computerized manufacturing techniques, each boot still passes through the hands of skilled craftsmen and women. Our commitment to quality materials and construction means that our boots live up to the Texas Steer name and reputation. We continue to expand our catalog with new styles, fits, and designs without sacrificing our brand’s core values.

What We Offer

Here at Texas Steer Boots, we offer an extensive selection of footwear to meet the needs of modern workers and outdoor adventurers.

Our work boot selection sets the industry standard for quality, comfort, and protection. We offer boot styles featuring:

  • Leather, suede, and nubuck uppers: Durable, water-resistant, and comfortable. Our full-grain leathers stand up to years of wear.
  • Safety toes: Steel, composite, and soft toe options to protect feet from impact and compression hazards.
  • Slip-resistant soles: Essential traction for oil rigs, construction sites, factories, and other slick work environments.
  • Electrical hazard protection: Insulated soles prevent electrocution when working around live wires.
  • Waterproof membranes: Block moisture from the ground or work site while allowing ventilation.
  • ThinsulateTM insulation: Keeps feet warm in cold conditions while retaining flexibility.
  • Oil and acid resistance: Protective treatments prevent corrosion from harsh chemicals.

We also offer convenient features like side zippers for easy on and off, padded collars to prevent blisters, antimicrobial treatment to combat odors, and metatarsal guards to shield the foot.

Casual and Western Boots

Our casual boot selection includes simple work styles along with fashionable boots for everyday wear. Choices include:

  • Lace-up boots: Rugged leather lace-up ankle boots, chukka boots, Oxford boots, and more.
  • Chelsea boots: Elastic-sided Chelsea boots in leather or suede.
  • Moc toe boots: Handsewn moc toe boots with a signature stitched toe.
  • Cowboy boots: Classic Western boots with tall uppers, cowboy heels, and intricately stitched designs.

We use softened leathers in neutral earth tones and bold saturated hues. Many styles feature a lightly distressed finish giving each pair a broken-in look straight out of the box.

Work Apparel and Accessories

To complete the workwear ensemble, we offer a selection of garments and accessories:

  • Durable work pants with multiple pockets, reinforced stress points, and adjustable waists.
  • Breathable work shirts in cotton, nylon, and polyester blends.
  • Protective jackets, coats, and hoodies made from abrasion-resistant materials.
  • Belts and suspenders designed for heavy-duty use with metal hardware.
  • Work socks that wick moisture and provide cushioning.
  • Hats, beanies, and hard hats to protect from sun, rain, and falling debris.
  • Gloves and wrist guards that provide grip and minimize impact.
  • Tool bags, belts, and backpacks for organizing gear.

We source our workwear accessories to pair seamlessly with our signature boots for a unified work ensemble.

Our Production Process

Even with modern techniques, our boot making process still requires skilled human hands. This is what sets Texas Steer apart from other brands and enables us to maintain our quality standards.

Step 1: Cutting and Assembly

Each boot starts as an expertly cut leather upper, lining, welt, and outsole. The uppers are then meticulously stitched together using techniques that have changed little since the advent of footwear. Only master craftspeople have the skills required for this intricate assembly process.

Step 2: Lasting and Shaping

Next, the boot upper is stretched and molded to its foot-shaped last. This process forms each boot precisely to size specifications for optimal fit and comfort. The heels are also attached to the uppers in this step.

Step 3: Attaching the Welt and Sole

The welt, a strip of leather or rubber, is stitched to the upper’s edge and the top of the sole. This provides flexibility and allows for re-soling. The outsole is then cemented and stitched to the welt completing the boot’s foundation.

Step 4: Finishing

Finally, the boots pass through a series of detailed finishing steps:

  • Edge trimming and debris removal
  • Polishing and conditioning the leathers
  • Adding protective treatments
  • Attaching eyelets and hooks
  • Performing inspections and final quality control

Our meticulous finishing ensures each pair meets our unwavering standards.
